when we had a friend in town, we decided to hit up a bucktown / wicker park classic since 2009 : taxim right on milwaukee ave. at the six corners.

ever heard of it? well ... "taxim features regional greek cuisine & wine from the mountains, islands, cities & villages of greater greece." i'm literally always down for greek food.

as the resident vegan in the group (per usual), i over ordered apps & sides for everyone.. here's what we had ...

revithia kas. frossos & politiki melitzanosalata :
basically hummus & baba ghannoush.
what's not to like?

aginares me koukia :
artichokes, fingerling potatoes, fava beans, baby carrots & dill.
i wanted more artichokes. but good!

olives & pickles :
because, duh.

piperies tiganites :
basically, greek shishitos. hello, yummy!

marathopita kritis :
cretan pastry filled with fresh fennel, spring onions & sesame.
wow. not in a good way. i'm sure someone out there likes this ... but it tasted like grass clippings covered in sesame seeds to me. eep.

i'm sad to say that the last few bites of the above marathopita kritis kind of put a major damper on the meal for me. i'll just have to go back & remedy that.
